The Oak Harbor Arts Commission will host the sixth annual Driftwood Day at Windjammer Park Aug. 27. Come out rain or shine for this free event and create driftwood scuptures on the beach.
Twelve unique trophies will be awarded by a panel of judges that includes the renown artist Kevin Pettell from the Soul in Bronze studio in Sultan; Oak Harbor Mayor Jim Slowik; Capt. Jay Johnston, commanding officer, NAS Whidbey Island; and Cheryl Johnston, an art teacher.
Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. and at noon participants begin creating their sculptures using only what they find on the beach that day. Judging starts at 1:30 p.m.
