The Polly Harpole Hospital Guild is named after Polly Harpole, RN, who was the first Public Health Nurse on Whidbey Island and ran a maternity home in Coupeville. This guild is one of the last three guilds remaining from the original 20 hospital guilds established in 1957.

The purpose of the original guilds was to raise money and work toward the creation of Whidbey General Hospital. After the hospital was built, the guilds continued their work to raise funds to purchase needed medical equipment.

The Polly Harpole Hospital Guild, along with the Dr. Paul Bishop Guild in Coupeville and the Caritas Guild of South Whidbey, comprise the Whidbey General Hospital Auxiliary and annually continue to donate funds to the hospital.

The Polly Harpole Hospital Guild raises money for hospital wish list items and helps the auxiliary fund two scholarships for Whidbey Island high school seniors pursuing health care careers. The guild meets four times a year and holds two annual fundraisers.
