Letter: Accusations against massage therapist are unfair

Editor,

This is in response to the Sept. 10 article, “Former massage therapist may face additional charges.”

My relationship with Christopher Blunt is, my husband and I know his family very well. We all attend Trinity Lutheran Church, we go out in the evenings, we share meals, go to Mariner games together. When I read the original article, my first thought was “someone” is angry, and I don’t mean Christopher. I rarely meet young men that are as considerate, kind and respectful and Christopher.

I’m the age of the second woman to complain about him, and I have been getting full body massages my whole adult life, 60% male therapists. Most people remove all their clothing. The therapist uses a large sheet and discreetly moves it to massage the different limbs and whatever needs work. I assume people understand this. First complaint about “massaging her exposed breast,” I’ll say in decades and many therapists, that has never happened. Second complaint “she was rubbed between her legs”. When I get a full body message that includes my legs; top, bottom, front, back, inside and outside. She didn’t say he rubbed her “crotch, or vagina,” she said “leg.” If it was more than that, why wasn’t that reported? The “placing his clothed penis in her hand.” I’m trying to picture that in jeans. Most therapists use a bottle worn on their body, so it’s easy to get more oil, for sure a phallic shape. My therapist wears it right in front near the top of their jeans/belt. Too many buzz words here.

The woman that “became alarmed” after the report, who dated him, apparently slept with him, since she gave birth to ‘their’ baby and says he “repeatedly touched her inappropriately.” To me there’s a disconnect, if true, wouldn’t she report a rape?

A very decent young man has lost his chosen profession and been under a microscope for too long. This seems to be dragging on and why? Someone can remain in shadows while accusing someone else of something devastating, while the accused is blasted in their community. Not sure I understand the rule of law, “Innocent until proven guilty.” This is a bit of BS.

I do not know any of the accusers, since they are not named, but I do know Christopher and feel he was an easy mark.
