Myrtis Louise Groves passed away peacefully Jan. 10, 2004. She was born July 18, 1922, in Oak Harbor and spent her childhood there graduating from Oak Harbor High School in 1940. She moved to Seattle, and Sept. 8, 1946, married Bill. She retired from Safeco Insurance Company June 30, 1986, after 21 years of service. Myrtis enjoyed many things especially traveling abroad with son Michael. Also, visiting with friends, walking, feeding the ducks at Ronald Bog, gardening and her spoon collection. Brought up on radio as a child, she like listening to old time shows and KIXI as well as the Mariners, Sonics and Huskies. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents Clarence and Mae Hunt, and a sister Clara and brother Bill. She is survived by sons Bob, Marty, and Michael (Fely), and sister Edith. Friends may pay their respects from 2 to 6 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 14, at Acacia Funeral Home. Private services will be held Thursday, Jan. 15, at Acacia Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 14951 NE Bothell Way, Seattle, WA 98155. Remembrances can be made to any Alzheimer’s Association.
