Linda Jo Wadlington, 59, 52-year resident of Oak Harbor, died at her home Feb. 7, 2004, following a nine-year battle with cancer.
Mrs. Wadlington was born in San Francisco Oct. 29, 1944. As a small child, she moved with her family to Oak Harbor, where she attended schools, graduating from Oak Harbor High School in 1963. She was married for 32 years to Raymond L. Wadlington. She was employed for more than 25 years at the Navy Exchange, and had been promoted to the level of supervisor, a position she held for several years.
Linda Jo enjoyed painting, particularly birdhouses. She also enjoyed playing crossword puzzles. However, her family was her life. She had a been a member of the VFW Auxiliary.
Linda Jo is survived by her husband, Raymond “Spider” Wadlington; her daughter, Holly Hamilton and husband Ray of Oak Harbor; her son, Jimmy Ray Wadlington of Oak Harbor; her granddaughter, Abigail Rae Hamilton; her mother, Mary Fortner of Oak Harbor; also, her step-father, George Fortner of Oak Harbor.
A memorial service will be Sunday, Feb. 15, at 3 p.m. at Burley Funeral Chapel, Pastor Harold Veldman officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Jo Balda, P.O. Box 345, Oak Harbor, WA 98277. Arrangements and cremation under direction of Burley Funeral Chapel.
