June Arlene Williams

June Arlene Williams, 77, 12-year resident of Coupeville, passed away peacefully at Whidbey General Hospital,surrounded with love, on the morning of Oct. 6, 2003.

Mrs. Williams was born Feb. 6, 1926, in North Canton, Ohio. June and her husband Jack attended high school together in Akron, Ohio. They were married after Jack returned from World War II, and have been married for 56 years.

They moved to Federal Way in 1959, where she helped raise their four children. June later helped her husband build their dream home at Admirals Cove, where they retired.

June enjoyed being active in her community. She was a member of Coupeville Garden Club for many years. She served for two years as the club’s president, and has served as historian. She took pride in working with her friends in the garden club to help make Coupeville a more beautiful city, by planting flowers downtown and helping raise money to purchase statues of a boy and girl for Cook’s Corner Park.

June dearly loved her family, enjoyed her many friends, and always looked forward to meeting someone new. She cherished every moment of every day. She brought sunshine, smiles and laughter to the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

June is survived by her husband Jack Williams; her four children, Donna Ruth Kussmann of Des Moines; David George Williams and wife Deborah of Manhattan Beach, Ca.; Richard Allen Williams and wife Janet of La Grande, Ore.; and Nancy Ann Petry and husband William of Marysville. She also is survived by 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Bealer and Edna Hackenberg.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct.11 at 10 a.m. at Coupeville United Methodist Church, the Rev. Dr. Mary Boyd officiating. A reception will follow at the Masonic Center, 604 N. Main St., Coupeville. Private family interment will take place at Washington Memorial Park, Sea-Tac. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, OH 44720. Arrangements are under direction of Burley Funeral Chapel.
