Graveside funeral services for Cora E. Herrigstad will be held Saturday, Feb. 15, at 10 a.m. at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Memorial services will follow at Oak Harbor Lutheran Church at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jerry Buss officiating.
Cora Evelyn Herrigstad, 90, died Feb. 6, 2003 in Oak Harbor. She was born March 4, 1912, in Bagley, Minn., to Edwin and Anna (Christianson) Erickson. She moved to Lengby, Minn., as a young woman and worked as a waitress. While in Lengby, she met William Herrigstad. They fell in love and on Oct. 17, 1931, they were married in Peoria, Ill.
In 1932, the Herrigstads moved to Detroit. In the spring of 1943, they left Detroit for Foster, Minn., and then Paradise, Calif., where they spent three years. They moved on to Kalispell, Mont., and in 1949, settled in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. The Herrigstads owned and operated a lawn and novelty shop in Coeur d’Alene for many years. In 1992, William and Cora moved to Oak Harbor to be near their family.
Cora Herrigstad is survived by two sons and their wives: Harvey and Rose Ann Herrigstad of Oak Harbor, and Gerald and Muriel Herrigstad of Sacramento; by one sister, Jean Moen of Clearbrook, Minn.; and by six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
