I have known Jim Palmer for many years and have watched him demonstrate his leadership. Jim expects everyone to have a chance to express their ideas, but if his own idea should get rejected, Jim will continue on to fruition as if it were his own.
I have watched what Mayor Cohen has had to do to get something done. Many times the political “check and balance” system was spent entirely on the “checking” part, resulting in many things tabled or not done. That needs to stop and Jim Palmer has the ability to get things done by working tirelessly with or for someone.
I believe a city council member should complement the mayor, not continually be an obstacle in the way of progress. Jim has the demonstrated leadership, business background, and technical background to be an outstanding city council member whomever turns out to be mayor. In fact, if Jim were running for mayor, he would receive my highest recommendation there too.
So if you want to see something done after the debate, vote for Jim Palmer. Don’t make the new Oak Harbor Mayor put up with what Mayor Cohen had to.
