Ironic news could be last straw

“What delicious irony!” I thought when I saw that work on the “improvements” to downtown were halted by the discovery of bones in the project.

“What delicious irony!” I thought when I saw that work on the “improvements” to downtown were halted by the discovery of bones in the project.

Then, almost as quickly, I realized that this delay in the completion of the work was going to add another burden to the already crippling load heaped upon the backs of the Oak Harbor’s downtown merchants.  Likely, it would be the final straw for many of these long-suffering businesses.  Many more businesses would be forced to close.

Truly, an unfortunate turn of events.  Really?  By all accounts the city should have known of the very real possibility that they would find themselves in this situation.  An unfortunate accident?  Really?
