A 32-year-old Oak Harbor man is accused of hitting his girlfriend, holding her down on the bed, threatening her with a Taser and trying to light her hair on fire, according to Oak Harbor police.
Prosecutors charged Gregory Greenwood in Island County Superior Court June 16 with assault in the second degree, unlawful imprisonment and assault in the fourth degree. The assault charges were filed as domestic violence charges.
Officer Spencer Magruder wrote in his report that a resident of a NW Crosby Avenue apartment building reported hearing “someone being thrown around an apartment.â€
Magruder arrived to find a 21-year-old woman crying outside. She had numerous “hand marks†the length of her arms, as well as an injury to her chin.
The woman said Greenwood hit her and threw her around the apartment. She said he also hit and pushed her 41-year-old mother, who also lived in the apartment, Magruder wrote.
When Magruder interviewed her later, she said Greenwood had thrown a chair at her, hitting her in the face. She claims he then pinned her to the bed at Taser point and tried to light her hair on fire, the report states. She said he never actually shocked her with the Taser.
If convicted of the charges, Greenwood could face between six months and a year in jail under the standard sentencing range.
