Editor,
I too believe more information should be given to the public regarding safety and crimes committed.
Recent activity on Island County Sheriff’s Facebook page asking for help for the armed robbery on the south end was a little lame.
It said a white Mitsubishi was involved, but was it a car, pickup or an SUV?
They made it a point that the suspect wore gloves a couple of times, like we couldn’t tell from the video.
A little bit more depth and, perhaps, we the public could be of more assistance.
I perceived that the assailant was right-handed and seemed fairly comfortable with what he was doing — perhaps he practiced or this was not the first time.
The gun has a sling, not something you see very often on a shotgun.
Also the woodland camo jacket he is wearing has a very distinctive tan pattern between the shoulders. These jackets are not all made exactly the same so we should watch for it.
As per your opinion, the sheriff’s office works for the taxpayers, but lets be honest, I would rather know that the law enforcement officers are patrolling and researching crimes rather than sorting and supplying blotter information for the paper.
We all know that the department has had to deal with cutbacks and, yes, if we had more information we could help keep our neighborhoods safe, but when it comes down to it where do we want our man hours spent? Perhaps the paper could supply the man hours to sort the blotter for information to be announced.
