Island County taxpayers must consider recent revelations about the losses of investment funds during the current treasurer’s term in office when casting their ballots.
The article on the perils of Island Transit was a good lesson in a government entity that believes itself to be indispensable, so it just continues to cry “wolf,” believing the taxpayers will bail them out with no question asked.
It has come to my attention that the Board of Island County Commissioners is considering a revision of the critical areas ordinance prohibiting the establishment of “through-put utilities” in “critical areas” in Island County that would allow such utilities to be established.
Regarding the Island Transit scandal involving financial mismanagement, taxpayers should be outraged.
Just read the article, “With reserves gone, Island Transit axing staff, routes” about the Island Transit financial meltdown.
Martha Rose must be terminated. She is ultimately responsible for Island Transit’s financial crisis and the resulting reductions in bus services.
I pray that people will do their homework and research who they are voting for. If you look at Karla Jacks, you will see she is the obvious choice for Island County Commissioner District No. 3.

In early June, I had a stroke, not the worst anyone could have, and for that I am grateful. My friends, family and amazing community came to my rescue.
I believe a recent letter to the editor written by my opponent to the Whidbey News-Times distorts the truth for personal political gain rather than telling the whole story.
I saw my Letter to the Editor (July 16, Flyer is a tip that resident isn’t home) online today. Within 15 minutes, I had a personal visit from Marc Henneman, apologizing for the flyer in the door.
