Many accused found innocent

I wonder how many people in Oak Harbor are aware of the number of male teachers and school district employees who have been accused of some impropriety, assumed to be guilty and when due process was followed with an investigation, the accused were found to be innocent. Unfortunately the individual’s reputation was in question and they carry the mental wound of the incident.

I can relate to the stress in a small way through my dealing with Dr. Schulte over a conflict with an administrator. Thank heavens for due process and the adept representation by the OHEA president. I was transferred to another building and the building administrator left the district after two separation arbitrators indicated an inability to lead a quality teaching staff.

Mr. Pruss may have his day in court but the headline in the Whidbey News-Times and the contents of the article have already judged him to be guilty. Maybe the French have it right, “A man is guilty until proven innocent.”
