Michael Jim Deal: August 19, 1953 – April 21, 2024

Michael Jim Deal was born August 19, 1953, in Portland Oregon to Floyd Earl Deal and Darlene Jean Bliven Deal. On April 21, 2024, Mike changed his address from Oak Harbor, Washington to his forever home with Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Mike grew up in cities along the west coast, finally moving at 16 to Fort Morgan, Colorado with his dad. Mike accepted Christ soon after moving to Fort Morgan, seated at the family dining table and talking with his dad and the Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church. He was a student at Fort Morgan High School, and a varsity team football player. Mike worked in the family-owned business Hyplains Hydraulics with his dad and brothers for 30 years, taking a brief time to attend Biola Bible College in LaMirada, California in and Western Bible College in Denver, Colorado.

Mike met and married Arlin Ruth Fitzgerald at Calvary Baptist Church in Fort Morgan, and they had daughter Jennifer Evelyn Deal (Gephry).

Grace Bible Church of Fort Morgan was his home church for twenty years, where he served as member, deacon, and treasurer.

Following the home-going of his dad, Mike and Arlin moved to Washington in 2002 to join daughter Gephry and her husband Timothy Taton and their growing family, joining Bible Baptist Church in Oak Harbor, Washington.

Mike worked for Ferguson Enterprises as an industrial plumbing warehouseman and eventually managed a branch for Distribution Now, retiring in 2001. He also sang professionally in Second Life for 10 years, was an avid bicyclist, and a lifelong and exuberant Denver Broncos fan.

Michael is survived by wife Arlin Deal, daughter Gephry and son-in-law Tim, along with three grandchildren: Chloe Taton, Ezekiel Taton, and Margaret Taton. My siblings include Shane Deal, Sean Deal, Paula Fabush, and Kelly Manning, as well as many nieces and nephews. Two siblings preceded him, Floyd Deal, Jr, and Sandra Deal.

A Funeral service took place at Bible Baptist Church on April 27th, 2024, at 1:00 pm and the internment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Missouri Valley, Iowa on Wednesday May 1st.

Mike was a rock-solid lover and follower of Jesus Christ; a generous, honest, and good man who delighted in his family, his church, and loved dogs.
