I want the merchants of downtown Oak Harbor to know the number one reason why I shop as little as I do in the downtown area: The parking keeps me away.

I hate to parallel park and I am not very skilled at it. Not only is there very little parking downtown, but it’s parallel parking! I am looking forward to the proposed change and I don’t think I’m the only customer who favors the idea.

I drive down Pioneer and if I don’t see a large parking space or two empty spaces I simply cancel my plans to shop that day. I say, “Yes!” to making Pioneer Way a one-way street. I urge the City Council to move forward with their proposed plan.
