“I think that both baseball and the country will endure.” – John F. Kennedy
Everyone, it is that time again here on Whidbey. Support your local teams! For parents and fans, this is your big chance to demonstrate good sportsmanship in public…the players are watching and listening! Players, remember that this game is one contest after another, so put your best cleat forward, take a chance and swing for the fence (if the coach gives you the green light). Coaches and assistants, thank you to all volunteers who show up every year. Thank you for a great community effort to show our kids how to contend, thrive and prevail.
Baseball is about winning and having fun. You can’t really separate those two items in the great diamond sports, no matter who you are and it takes a long, persevering effort to make a winning team.
Remember one rule of baseball: Players win the games, coaches lose ’em, and all the umpires…well, let’s just say they are all different! Let’s make players!
So, all, if you see a baseball or fastpitch fundraiser please pull in or contribute if you can. Those boys and girls are playing the most complicated field game in the world. Let’s help them use this as a tool for life that was actually fun to learn.
