In a recent edition of the Whidbey News-Times the forum was given to educators to give their take on teacher salaries. In the article they pointed out an individual who had previously been published in the forum who was in opposition to salary increases.
On its surface it would just seem as though we are seeing both sides of the coin. Yet, the one side of the coin not representing teachers was not the individual I would post in my forum if I was running a newspaper.
To those of you who do not get online you would not even have a clue about this individual. But for those of us who do comment occasionally online this individual is an “Internet vulture.” Before the Whidbey News-Times required Facebook logins, I checked this person’s profile and he had thousands of comments left on the Whidbey News-Times. In fact, he has thousands more comments than the next closest commenter. If it was a political letter he was there to comment. And if you made a comment he would be there to reply to your comment within a couple of hours. I picture this poor individual tied to his computer 24/7 checking his comments constantly so he can pounce on anyone who is willing to reply. I’m not a psychiatrist, but I think this person might be just a little fixated on his political agenda.
In a recent forum on education by Peter Szalai the Internet responses contained 17 entries, 12 of which belonged to this one individual. Now apparently the News-Times has no problem giving this person the floor. And maybe that is why this country is going to the extremists. Then again, this is a newspaper that has a front page article about a donut shop opening! (But I must say they were good donuts.)
Anyway, I’m sure the Whidbey News-Times won’t print this letter. Suffice it to say, the next time I see this individual’s name under a forum piece, well, that will be the last Whidbey News-Times I purchase.
