Everett adds Oak Harbor to its upset victims / Volleyball

For the second time in three days, the Everett High School volleyball team knocked off a state-ranked team when the Seagulls defeated Oak Harbor 3-1 Thursday, Oct. 11, on the Wildcats’ court.
The Seagulls (7-3, 8-3) beat Arlington 3-2 Tuesday and moved within a game of Oak Harbor (8-2) and the Eagles (8-2) in the Wesco standings after upsetting the Wildcats.
Stanwood (10-0) and Snohomish (9-0) remain unbeaten.
Oak Harbor faces a tough week ahead with a road match at Snohomish Tuesday, Oct. 16, before hosting Arlington a 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18.
Before the big week in league play, the Wildcats will make their annual trip to the Wenatchee Tournament Saturday, Oct. 13.
Everett 3, Oak Harbor 1
The Seagulls took the match 25-18, 13-25, 25-12, 26-24.
Everett raced to an 8-1 lead in the first set. Oak Harbor got to within three, 20-17, but could get no closer.
The next two games were similar with each team collecting a win.
Everett was sloppy as Oak Harbor rolled to the 12-point win.
Then it was the Wildcats’ turn to play poorly as the Seagulls easily took the set.
Oak Harbor played catch-up most of the fourth game. It led 4-3, then the Seagulls went on top and held the lead the rest of the way.
The Wildcats came from four down to tie the score at 22 and again evened the match at 24 before Everett pulled out the set and match.
Leielle Salinger finished with 13 kills, two aces and three blocks, Cami Bristow had 11 kills and 15 digs, Morgan Pease added 11 kills and 18 digs, Leah Quidachay tallied 34 assists and Ceirra Dean had 33 digs.
