Virginia Rae (Woods) Smith

Virginia Rae (Woods) Smith passed away March 14, 2013.

She was born July 21, 1925 in Spokane, Wash. She attended Montana State University, and was a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority. Many remember her as a beautiful, graceful and talented ice skater.

After raising her family in Georgia and Kentucky, she and husband, Art Smith moved to Oak Harbor in 1981 and purchased the Deception Pass Grocery. They expanded the business to include a mini golf course, and a concession stand on the beach. After closing the store in 2000, Virginia moved to Coronet Bay and later began traveling the world. She loved life and all it offered. She was our Angel. She shrouded all her family and friends with

unconditional love and joy.

Her husband Arthur E. Smith, and son Barry D. Smith preceded her passing. She is survived by immediate family members, Daughter, Laura (Smith) Schoennauer; Sons, Dr. Mark A. Smith,

Dana A. Smith, and Scott A. Smith; Granddaughters, Shea Johnson , Sybil Johnson and Megan Smith; Grandsons, Adam Smith, Daniel Smith, Matthew Smith, Travis Smith, Andy Smith and Barry Smith; Five Great Grandchildren; spouses, extended family and friends.
