Richard Alan Voorhees, 59, of Anacortes, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015, at Providence Medical Center in Everett after a brief illness. He was born on Aug. 5, 1956, in New London, Conn., the son of Alan and Mary Ann (Davis) Voorhees.

He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle and granddad. Rick, as known to his family and friends, was a 22-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1975 until 1997. After his service to his country, he went to work for Fred Meyer in Burlington and later for L3 at Whidbey Naval Air Station.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Alan Robert and Mary Ann Voorhees, and his granddaughter, Caydence Alexis Beebe. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Lynne; two daughters and a son-in-law, Stacy Lynne Voorhees and Amy Melissa and Richard RS Beebe; a grandson, Grayson Anthony Beebe; a sister, Kathleen Ann Voorhees of Seattle; and a brother, Robert Glen Voorhees of Morgantown, W.Va. Rick was extremely proud of his military career and as requested will be buried at sea. Arrangements are in the care of Evans Funeral Chapel and Crematory Inc., Anacortes and the San Juan Islands.
