Pete Manni

Pete Manni, 84, of Eagle Run, East Greenwich, Rhode Island, died Sept. 26, 2007 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. He was the husband of Lucy (Chirico) Manni. Born in Cranston, he was a son of the late Angelo and Teresa (Scarozza) Manni. Before full retirement in 1987, Mr. Manni was president of Severity Control Consultants. Previously he spent 13 years at Metropolitan Insurance. His last position was director of claims training, where he created the automobile and homeowners damage appraisal programs. He was on the board of directors and the chairman for Inter-industry Conference of Auto Collision Repair.

A World War II U.S. Army Air Force veteran, Mr. Manni served in the European theatre of operation where he received three purple hearts.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his children: Kenneth A. Manni and his wife Eleanor of Oak Harbor; Sharon L. Altieri and her husband Don of Cranston, R.I.; Peter Mannin and his wife Monica of Warwick, R.I.; and Stephen M. Manni and his wife Sherrie of Norton, Ma. He was the grandfather of Vanessa Sclama, Stephanie Lombardi, Nathan, Jessica, David, Matthew, John, Jennifer and Zachary Manni, and the great-grandfather of five. Mr. Manni was the brother of Frances Martinelli of Cranston, R.I., and the late Ronnie, Louie, Phil, Tom and Jerry Manni and Lydia Panzini.

Mr. Manni loved visiting his family and grandchildren in Oak Harbor and had many friends here. A Mass of Christian Burial was at St. Gregory the Great Church, Warwick, R.I. Entombment with Military Honors was at Our Risen Christ Garden Mausoleum, in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston, R.I.
