Merrill E. Marrs, 79, passed away surrounded by his family at his home May 4, 2008, after an extended illness.
He was born to Ed and Valma Marrs on Sept. 28, 1928. Merrill graduated from Anacortes High School in 1947 and went on to serve in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952.
The family left Anacortes in 1959 and made Oak Harbor their home for 47 years. In March 2007, Merrill and wife June returned “back home” to Anacortes.
He leaves his wife June of 56 years; two sons, Dennis and wife Liz of Camano Island and Dale and wife Shannon of Oak Harbor; sister Deanna Seawright of Everett; brother Gary and wife Wanda of Richmond, B.C.; four grandchildren, Amanda and husband Matt Jacobs of Honolulu, Brian and wife Emili Marrs of Oak Harbor, Jeffrey Marrs of Anacortes and Katelyn Marrs of Snohomish; three step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, Mason, Jaden, Jacob, Lauren and Brenna; and many nieces, nephew and cousins. Merrill was preceded in death by his sister Maxine Wahl of Anacortes.
At his request, there will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.
Remembrances can be made to the American Heart Association, Hospice of Skagit County or to the charity of your choice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of Affordable Burial & Cremation Services, LLC of Mount Vernon.
