Margot Bruning Perry Wiess

Margot Bruning Perry Wiess passed away Dec. 20, 2010, at the age of 71. She was born Sept. 26, 1939, in Breda, Iowa, and was raised in Hastings, Neb. Margot was crowned the Homecoming Queen of her high school senior class and then moved to Cupertino, Calif., where she met and married Lt. Commander Richard “Dick” Clark Perry of the United States Navy. Dick was killed in 1967 and Margot quickly began her college studies.

Margot possessed an unbridled spirit that led her to travel all over the world. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from San Francisco State University. Margot made Oak Harbor her home for over 30 years, working as an administrator for Summer Hill, a receptionist for Dr. Burner’s office and volunteering her time at the Habitat for Humanity Thrift Store.

Margot was remarried to her husband, Byron Wiess, who died before her. Margot battled with cancer for four years, and remained steadfast in her fight until she passed away early Monday morning surrounded by her family and friends. Margot was a mother, grandmother, and friend who gave much joy to those around her, investing herself in every relationship she had.

Margot is survived by her son, Stephen Clark Perry, his wife Alice Perry; her stepchildren Lynn Dooley and Mike Dooley, her grandchildren, Adina Perry Zerwig, Amanda Perry and Richard Perry; and her siblings,- Patricia Mankin and Julie Schopp.

A memorial service will be held for friends and family on Friday, Dec. 31, at St. Stephan’s Episcopal Church at 11 a.m. in Oak Harbor. Margot will be buried with her husband Dick Perry in Arlington National Cemetery.
