Margaret Kathleen “Peggy” Owner

Margaret Kathleen “Peggy” Owner, loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt, passed away Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, at the age of 93. A longtime resident of Coupeville, Peggy was born in Seattle on Dec. 19, 1915. She was a graduate of Franklin High School in the Class of 1934.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband John Owner and grandchildren, Kim Owner and Nancy Owner. Her daughters, Peggy Scott of Seattle, Marilyn Burns of Lopez Island, Kathleen Bell of Coupeville, sons George Owner of Bow and Roger Owner of Coupeville, eight grandchildren, nine great- grandchildren and one niece, Pat Campbell Shone, survive her.

Peggy was active in the Coupeville United Methodist Church, where she found great joy in helping at the many church activities. Her church family enriched her life and she treasured the friendships she made.

Peggy’s family and friends will always remember her commitment and love for her family, her strength of character and resilience, her thirst for knowledge, her zest for life, and her passion for gardening, cooking, reading, art and wildlife, especially birds. Peggy was an inspiration and role model for her entire family.

There will be an open house at her home in Coupeville for family and friends on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 2 to 4 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor.
