Marcelo Galapate ‘John’ Cadiente

Marcelo Galapate “John” Cadiente, 35, died March 9, 2010.

A military memorial service was held March 15 at the Naval Air Station Whidbey Island Chapel. A service will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church on Monday, March 29, in Kauai, Hawaii.

Petty Officer Cadiente was born July 10, 1974, in Waimea, HI, to Marcelo and Milagros Cadiente. He graduated from high school in 1992 and was serving in the U.S. Navy on active duty stationed at Naval Ocean Processing Facility, Whidbey Island.

His past duty stations included: USS Crommelin (FFG 37), Afloat Training Group Mid Pacific, USS Chaffee (DDG 90), where he was deployed to the Arabian Gulf in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, and USS Paul Hamilton(DDG 60).

Petty Officer Cadiente is survived by his daughter, Nia, fiancé, Julieann father, Marcelo, mother, Milagros, sisters, Anna and Marlene, and brother, Marlon.

Petty Officer Cadiente proudly served his country for more than 16 years. John will be missed by family members, friends, and shipmates.
