Our beloved Mother, Lois A. Parker, 75, of Puyallup, died Nov. 11, 2008 at her home surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mom was born Sept. 14, 1933, in Aberdeen, Wash., the daughter of late Erling and Buelah Solheim. She was the oldest of three siblings, graduating from Aberdeen High in 1950. On Dec. 13, 1952, she married the late Thomas Turner. Twenty years of life in the Navy took Mom to many places in the U.S. before settling in Oak Harbor. Later, she married Bernard Parker of Quincy.
Mom served in city government for the cities of Oak Harbor and Enumclaw, retiring in 1992 as a member of the Washington State Employees Retirement Association.
Those left to treasure mom’s many memories are daughter Linda Bond of Arlington, son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Sherry Turner of Auburn, daughter and son-in- law, Cindy and Richard Potenski of Woodland, and son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Dawn Turner of Arlington, along with her brother, Ronald Solheim of Aberdeen, and sister Karen Funk of Shelton.
Mom also enjoyed many years with her grandchildren, Renee Peterson of Seattle, Nick Turner of Vancouver, Wash., Brooks Turner of Auburn, Kellyn Alabaster of San Diego and Lyndsay Turner of Arlington, as well as her great-grandson Trystahn Turner of Vancouver. Mom will join her very special grandson in Heaven, TJ Turner, who died of meningitis in 1999.
Mom did not wish for a service to be held, but asked that family and loved ones gather at Ocean Shores to celebrate her life. The ocean was her favorite place to visit as it had always provided good times with family and friends as well as a place to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
The family appreciates your continued prayers and support, and requests memorials, “In Honor of Lois Parker” to your local cancer charity.
