Island County commissioners Monday approved $94,000 in funding to enhance tourism in the county.
The money was collected through the tax in hotel and motel rooms.
The county’s chambers of commerce were the big money winners. The Oak Harbor chamber received $21,386, Langley chamber $18,470, Central Whidbey Chamber $18,470, Freeland Chamber $13,609 and Camano chamber $11,665.
Other applicants receiving funding were the Coupeville Arts Center, $1,458; Island County Historical Society Museum, $1,166; Penn Cove Water Festival Association $972; and Whidbey Island Vintners, $972.
