Lionel Joseph Nores, Jr., 78, died May 16, 2005 at his home in Oak Harbor. He was born Sept. 6, 1926 in Tampa, Florida to Lionel J. and Leila (Mays) Nores, Sr.
Lionel was raised in Daytona, Tampa and Tallahassee, Fla. Following high school, Mr. Nores entered the U. S Navy, serving in World War II and Korea. The military sent him to South America and the Caribbean.
Lionel’s vocation was as a photographer, working for federal civil service, Technicolor and RCA, primarily photographing space shuttle and missile launches.
Mr. Nores was a grand storyteller. He touched many lives and made friends everywhere. He had a ready smile and was always offering a helping hand. He was an active member of his church. Lionel enjoyed photography, fishing, Disney movies and was a kid at heart.
Mr. Nores was a member of the Cocoa Beach Community Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4534 of Cocoa Beach and a member of the Mosquito Beaters Club of Florida, as well as various other charitable organizations.
Lionel is survived by one daughter Brenda Nores and one granddaughter Jennifer Million, both of Sedro-Woolley; by his former wife Myrtice Frame of Silverdale; by his companion Carolyn McClarin of Oak Harbor, and his extended family and loving friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Theresa Nores and one brother Richard.
Visitation for Mr. Nores was held May 19 at Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor. Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 21, at Cocoa Beach Community Church with entombment to follow at Florida Memorial Cemetery, Rockledge, Fla. Memorials may be made to the VFW Post No. 4534 in memory of Lionel Joseph, Jr. Arrangements are entrusted to Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor.
