Joshua Van Sickel: August 4, 1984 – April 17, 2025

Joshua Delane Van Sickel, age 40, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Harborview

Medical Center in Seattle, WA from complications of pneumonia. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.

Joshua was born on Saturday, August 4, 1984, in Topeka, Kansas, to Matthew J. Van Sickel and Kelly M. Van Sickel. He grew up in a military family, spending his childhood in Millington, TN; El Centro, CA; Bremerton, WA; and Oak Harbor, WA. He graduated from Oak Harbor High School and later worked for Dri-Eaz in Burlington, WA before joining Boeing in Everett as an electrician on the Boeing 777—a role he took great pride in.

Joshua had a curious mind and a creative spirit. He loved building things—whether it was custom computers, furniture, or working on cars- especially American muscle cars. He had a lifelong passion for video games and a deep interest in technology. Music, particularly rock and metal, was a steady presence in his life. He found peace in sketching—his art serving as a personal outlet.

Joshua is survived by his brother, James M. Van Sickel of Jacksonville, NC; his sisters, Heather R. Cater of Pontotoc, MS, and Ashley M. Van Sickel of Kent, WA; his father, Matthew J. Van Sickel, NE; and his mother, Kelly Marie Van Sickel of Lawrence, KS.
