Johanna Shelton, 75, 126 Buffalo Ridge Drive, Unicoi, Tenn., died April 30, 2010, at her residence. She was a native of Germany, moving to the United Stated in 1956. She was employed as a waitress during her working career with her longest tenure at Palmetto Inn Restaurant in Union, S.C. She also lived in Oak Harbor for 14 years.

She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, Erwin where she was very active in the church and church functions. She was also a member of the Unicoi County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and of Erwin’s Get Acquainted Club. She had an avid love for flower gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Shelton.

She leaves behind one daughter, Sandra Sneyd and husband, Ricky of Unicoi; two sisters, Antonia Heidenreiter, Pfeffenhausen, Germany and Irmgard Englbrecht, Rohr, Germany; one brother, Gerald Bichlmeier, Neustadt, Germany; two sisters-in-law, Kate Whitson of Erwin and Edith Shelton of Unicoi; three grandchildren, Joshua Sneyd, Unicoi, Jennifer Sneyd, San Diego, and Benjamin Sneyd, Unicoi; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted May 3 in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Rev. Robert Layell officiating. Music was under the direction of Sandra, Joshua and Benjamin Sneyd.
