Jim Halley was born Sept. 2, 1947, in Seattle to Jack “Babe” and Virginia ‘’Teny’’ Halley. He unexpectedly died following surgery at Providence Hospital in Everett on Oct. 17, 2010.

Jim grew up in Shoreline where he enjoyed a fun-filled life with his brother, Bill. He graduated from Shoreline high where he played football and participated in many school activities. During those years he developed lifelong friendships. He was involved with racing cars, a passion he shared with his father and brother. He developed mechanical skills and began a lifetime pursuit of art as expressed in wood craft, photography and in collecting American Indian art.

After graduating high school, he became an outstanding car salesman, followed by going north to work on the Alaska Pipe Line, returning to Seattle to create Halley Brothers’ Racing products. California was his next destination where he was an auto broker, studied flying and developed a great passion for boats and fishing. He revamped a tug boat that he kept in the Northwest. The biggest thrill remained auto racing which he attended regularly. He was a man of many interests with a great group of friends.

He moved to Whidbey Island in 2006. He thoroughly enjoyed his chosen destination as the perfect fit for his interests and lifestyle. He often said he would never consider living any other place in the world.

He will be deeply missed by his many friends, his brother, Bill, sister-in-law LorEll, nephews Tanner, Colby and Kramer, niece Jaime Halley and cousins Mary Gage and Virginia Fink.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, Dec. 11, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Shoreline Covenant Church 1330 North 185th St., Shoreline. Please join us to share remembrances and to celebrate Jim. A light lunch will be served. For additional information, call 415-421-1664.
