Howard “Al” Alan Parker

Howard “Al” Alan Parker, 63, of Coupeville, Wash., passed away June 10, 2014 in Bellingham, Wash., due to multiple organ failure.

Al was born July 10, 1950 in Cleveland, Ohio, to Howard and Jean Parker.

He and his wife, Melissa, were married in 1989. Al lived in Arizona, California, Washington, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

He has an associate degree in business from Skagit Valley College, and served in the Army for three years, one year in the Air National Guard, 19 years in the Navy Reserve as a TAR during Vietnam, and the Gulf War.

He was a project manager for Libby-Owens-Ford, Huntington Banks and a retired Naval Chief.

Al was a member of the Central Whidbey Sportsman Club and the NRA. He had several hobbies, such as making tapes WBBOK.

He loved music of the ‘40s and ‘50s and enjoyed old movies and trivia. He loved to entertain at home and loved ‘50s Westerns.

Al is survived by his wife Melissa; step-daughters Sarah (Mike) Duncan of Lancaster, Ohio, and Katie (Josh) Hornik of Hilliard, Ohio; three grandchildren, Nora Duncan, Levi Hornik and Rozlyn Hornik; sister Marlene Hoffman of Ravenna, Ohio; mother-in-law Nancy Morehart; sisters-in-law Sue (Paul) Peck and Rebecca (Kevin) Hawkins; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Al is preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Jean Parker; father-in-law Calvin Morehart; and brother-in-law Arlan Hoffman.

Family suggests donations to Wounded Warriors or DAV (Disabled American Veterans).

Memorial service will be held June 26, 2014 at 6 p.m. at Burley Funeral Chapel, 30 SE Ely St., Oak Harbor, WA 98277, 360-675-3192.
