Glenn R. Adams, 84, of Owatonna, Minn., formerly of Oak Harbor, died Sept. 27, 2009 at Homestead Hospice House, Owatonna.

Glenn was born March 15, 1925 in International Falls, Minn., the son of Harold and Maude (Jones) Adams. Glenn entered the United States Army in 1943 and served during World War II and in the Battle of the Bulge. He received his honorable discharge in 1946.

Glenn was united in marriage to Joyce Ashbrook in Northwich, England in 1946. After their marriage they returned to the United States and he worked at the Tuberculosis Sanatorium in Puposky, Minn., where his wife was a patient. After she regained her health they moved to Hibbing, Minn., where he worked in the iron mines and was employed by Sears for many years. In 1981 they moved to Whidbey Island, Oak Harbor, returning in 2007 to Minnesota after his wife’s death.

Glenn had many talents with an extraordinary skill for woodworking, building anything that could be made including a full-size stage coach of which he was very proud. He had a positive attitude and a good sense of humor in spite of all the health problems he dealt with on a daily basis. Glenn was always so thankful for the excellent care he received at Countryside and the Hospice House. He will truly be missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by two sisters, Donna (and Le Roy) Thoreson of Claremont, Minn., and Irene Cotton of St. Paul, Minn.; a brother, Al (and Mary) Adams of Tonto Basin, Ariz.; and sister-in-law, Ruth Adams of Newburg, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce, his parents and a brother, Robert.

Memorial services will be held Friday, Oct. 16, at 10 a.m. at Family Bible Church, Oak Harbor, with Pastor Ron Willis and Pastor Ron Lawler officiating. Interment will be in the Maple Leaf Cemetery in Oak Harbor. Arrangements by Michaelson Funeral Home, Owatonna.
