Fred T. Darvill, Jr., MD, was born in 1927. He died of Alzheimer’s Disease on Dec. 29, 2007. Fred practiced internal medicine in Mount Vernon. After retirement he worked part-time on Orcas Island and the Nooksack Tribal Clinic.
Dr. Darvill was instrumental in the establishment of the North Cascades National Park, the protection of Glacier Peak Wilderness, and the preservation of Ebey’s Landing, Whidbey Island.
Fred is survived by his wife Ginny, children Fred (Lauren), Kari Peterson (Glen), stepsons Doug StanWiens (Michelle) and Brian StanWiens, grandchildren Preston Darvill (Elizabeth), Sidney Darvill, Kiku Mizuno, Keisuke Mizuno and Anika StanWiens, great-granddaughter Kaya-Keir Darvill and soon-to-be born twin great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, at Hillcrest Lodge, Mount Vernon. Call 678-3149.
