Dorthy S. Loy, wife of Kennith Loy passed away Oct. 11, 2003, after an extended illness. She was born April 3, 1924, in Newport, one of three children. She is survived by two brothers, Jack and Larry Lee, two daughters, Anna Gillian and Trisha Plute and many grandchildren.
Dorothy married her childhood sweetheart Ken Dec. 2, 1943, in Oakland, Calif., becoming a young war bride. They had a very devoted and wonderful relationship that lasted almost 60 years. While living in the Oak Harbor area, Dorthy worked in the financial accounting department of Whidbey Island Naval Air Station until she joined her husband in retirement in 1984. From that date until the present they became snow birds, spending their remaining years between their summer home, at the “Glen at Maple Falls” and their winter home in Yuma, Ariz.
Dorthy enjoyed the quiet, peaceful life and loved to curl up by a warm fire with a good book and hot pot of tea, while Ken was fishing or socializing with all their friends. A more satisfying life could not be found. May she rest in peace as she lived in life.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
