Dorothy Ann Golhaf

Dorothy Ann Golhof, 64, formerly of Oak Harbor, entered into Rest with her Lord and Savior on March 2, 2010 at Cascade Christian Group Home in Lynden.

Dorothy was born in Vancouver, B.C. on July 6, 1945 to John and Theresa (DeVries) Golhof. She moved as an infant with her family to Whidbey Island for a short time, and then to Everett. At age 7, Dorothy and her family moved back to Oak Harbor. Dorothy later relocated to Grand Rapids, Mich., where she was a resident at Children’s Retreat, a home for developmentally disabled children. Returning to Washington, she lived at the Rainier School in Buckley for 15 years. In 1980, Dorothy moved to Cascade Christian Group Home in Lynden, where she had since been a resident.

She loved participating in community activities and her family at Cascade. She had been employed by Current Industries and Northwest Industries, both of which were sheltered workshops. Dorothy volunteered for the Shawn Humphrey House and the Whatcom Women’s Shelter. She was a member of the Oak Harbor Christian Reformed Church and attended Cornwall Church in Bellingham with her friends.

Dorothy is survived by her sister, Christine Vannice (James) of Twisp; nephew Jay Vannice (Anita) and great-nephew John of Marietta, Ga.; niece Jamesa Treadwell (Kevin), great-niece Sophia and great-nephew Cooper, of Oak Harbor; numerous cousins and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Theresa Golhof.

A Memorial Service will be held at Oak Harbor Christian Reformed Church, 1411 Wieldraayer Road, Friday, March 5 at 1 p.m., Pastor Randy Beumer officiating. A private family graveside service will take place at Fircrest Cemetery at a later date.
