Donald Wall, 59, died June 24, 2005 at The University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle. He was born on Jan. 23, 1946 to Floyd and Grace Lutz Wall in El Paso, Texas.
After graduating from high school, Donald joined the United States Navy where he served more than 16 years including three years in Vietnam. It was the Navy that brought him to Whidbey Island in 1974. Upon separation from the Navy he went to work in Civil Service at NAS Whidbey in the supply department. He retired from Civil Service in April of 2004, giving him a total of 39 years in government service.
Donald was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and a past member of the Fleet Reserve Association. He was an avid television fan and had a passion for motion pictures, but by far was most interested in computers. He also had a love for animals, in particular two dogs named William and Albert. He would pamper Albert so much that if anyone went shopping and didn’t bring home a toy, Donald would be upset.
Donald is survived by Marilyn, his wife of 24 years at the family home in Oak Harbor, as well as two step-children, Rita Carter with husband David in Oak Harbor and Rhonda Smith of Kent, and one aunt, Billie McConnel in El Paso, Texas, as well as four grandchildren and one great grand child, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by stepson Richard DeYoung, his parents and his two sisters, Diane and Darl’n.
At the request of the family there will be no services. Remembrances may be made to Disabled American Veterans. Arrangements under the direction of Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor.
