Dale Reed, 79, long-time resident of Coupeville in the Ledgewood neighborhood, died Feb. 9, 2007 in southern California. He was born in South Dakota and he and his wife Donna lived in parts of California and Washington. They were married for 59 years until she passed away in 2005. He served in the Navy in communications and landing crafts, landing on Iwo Jima and Okinawa during the initial attacks.
Over the years he ran his own business, was an engineer for General Dynamics and Boeing. He enjoyed wood carving and traveling. He was a caring and loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. One of his greatest joys was being with his four boys and their families.
He is survived by his four sons, their wives, 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a brother. The family will have a private memorial service.
