Barbara Jean Clark Marcure

Barbara Jean Clark Marcure, 80, of Smiths Station, Ala., a former resident of Oak Harbor, died March 2, 2010 at Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, Ga.

She was born on July 26, 1929 to Harry S. and Mildred M. (Akerly) Clark, Sr., in Portland, Maine. Barbara married Robert F. Marcure on Nov. 15, 1947 in Norton, Mass. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, quilting, watching and feeding birds, Scrabble and Jeopardy.

Barbara is survived by her six children, Sandra Haddow, of Prosser; Kathy (Ron) Hundley of Smiths Station, Ala.; Robert Marcure, Jr., of Edmonds; Jeanne Lumley, of Lake Stevens; Janice (Keven) Graves, of Rainier; Thomas (Becky) Marcure, of Corona, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including Jim Clark of Westerly, R.I.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Marcure, Sr.; her parents; brother Harry S. Clark, Jr. and daughter-in-law Cindy Marcure.

Mom, you sang to us as kids and to your grandchildren the song, “Away up in the Sky,” we now sing to you, “Away up in the Sky.”
