Any sane person will vote yes in August to keep Island Transit serving the people of Island County.
Let us talk about money. The sales tax increase that the transit is asking for pans out like this. You buy a 12 double roll package of toilet paper for $4.99. One and a half pennies go to Island Transit. What, you say? How can I possible afford that? Are you kidding me?
You know that penny cup that sits by all the cash registers at the stores you frequent? There are usually a few pennies in those cups so if your bill is $4.01 you can grab a penny and use it so you do not have a pocket full of change. I bet the person that was ahead of you in line tossed a couple of their pennies in that cup. Is that a great concept or what? Have you ever heard the words “pay it forward?” Well, that is what you are doing. You may not need the service at this very minute, but if you ever become disabled, cannot drive, have kids in high school who want to get to a football game or your car breaks down with no one around to give you a ride, you will be grateful you had the foresight to pay it forward!
