I would like to express gratitude to so many for the cooperation and support that has been given to our very successful 11th annual Oak Harbor Garden Club 2009 Tour and Tea event. This fundraising event directly benefits our Oak Harbor community garden beautification such as Hal Ramaley Park, Nora’s Garden and Flintstone; also with educational projects through the Washington state Federation of Garden Clubs, Chuchanut District and the National Garden Clubs, Inc. Pacific Region. Such support is remarkable and most appreciated. Much time and effort goes into the preparation for this exciting event.
Great thanks go to the dedicated Oak Harbor Garden Club Tour and Tea Committee as well as various club members who participated by donating homemade cookies; to all the garden site owners and their helpers who volunteered to have their beautiful properties included in the tour (without them there would be no tour): Richard and Pat Howell, Floyd and Betty Colbert, Wayne and Jan Eggleston, George and Karen Hamming, Neal Noorlag, Jerry Seaward and Vonnie Secketa. Thanks also to Jim Larsen, Whidbey News-Times editor; to Whidbey Printers; Kits Camera; AAA Diamond Rental; musicians Bob Harper and Dennis Burkhardt; to “gardener extraordinaire,” Cathy Chalfant and husband Duncan at Neal Noorlag’s tea site; and Safeway.
Also thanks go to the following businesses who dutifully sold our tickets: Greenhouse Florist and Nursery, Oak Harbor Chamber of Commerce, Hummingbird Farm, Horse Tales Nursery, Bay Leaf, Mailliard’s Landing Nursery, Sally’s Garden and many other businesses who graciously posted our posters. We now look forward to the 12th annual tour next year with more exciting gardens to be revealed.
