The stage doesn’t get much larger for someone to run on than the Boston Marathon.
Oak Harbor’s Sharon Jensen received the opportunity to partake in the prestigious event on April 21, when she competed in only her second marathon ever.
“It’s a pretty neat experience because there’s just a sea of runners the whole time,” she said.
Despite facing temperatures close to 20 degrees warmer than the ideal marathon climate, Jensen improved on her previous best by eight minutes with a time of 3:24.27. She finished in the top 37-percent overall at 6,265 out of 17,046 runners. She also ended the day in the top 18-percent for women and the top 11-percent for her age group of 40-49.
Jensen isn’t sure when, but she plans on returning to the Boston Marathon in the future.
“I think I’ll probably for sure do the Boston Marathon again,” she said.
As for what’s next, she’s not sure, but the mother of four would like to find the time to do at least one marathon a year.
