Development: Traffic jam not likely

The May 7 paper says controversy over the proposed espresso stand in front of Big Rock has once again come to life. The lawsuit that was thrown out in March is being reconsidered. It was thrown out because Oh Oh Inc. “had no standing to make a claim.”

The May 7 paper says controversy over the proposed espresso stand in front of Big Rock has once again come to life. The lawsuit that was thrown out in March is being reconsidered. It was thrown out because Oh Oh Inc. “had no standing to make a claim.”

The basis for reconsideration is that traffic increases would negatively impact Oh Oh’s lawyer in getting from his home to his office. Is he serious? Traffic congestion in Coupeville? A traffic jam because one already existing coffee shop moves across the street?

It has seemed strange to me that people of a small town can be so adamantly opposed to seeing a couple of its own citizens get ahead in a respectable family-owned enterprise.

If a traffic jam is the strongest leg Oh Oh’s case rests upon, I hope the judge sees just how ludicrous that claim is and throws the case out again so that this proposed asset to Coupeville’s economy can become a reality.
