On May 18 the people of Central Whidbey have an important opportunity to show that we care about our future, by voting yes for the Coupeville school bond. There are the all the basic reasons and needs for voting for this bond, such as deteriorating buildings, crowded classrooms, outdated systems and equipment, and just basic sound and safe buildings and playgrounds for Central Whidbey students. And don’t forget how often the school buildings are used for community events, meetings and activities.
But the main reason for voting yes is even more important — it’s the vote of confidence you give to the students, our community’s future, when you say yes to a school bond that will provide them a safe and healthy atmosphere in which to learn and grow. Every community needs to offer encouragement and support to the young people who will be our future leaders and decision makers, and providing our students with good schools is the best investment we can make for the future of us all.
I am not a parent (I chose to raise cats and dogs rather than kids), but I understand the value of good schools and hope that all voters in Central Whidbey join me in voting yes for our schools and for our future.
