Saturday, July 23, over 4,500 runners participated in the Ragnar Relay Northwest Passage event. The race began Friday morning in Blaine and wound its way through Deception Pass onto beautiful Whidbey Island, ending at the Langley fairgrounds. Teams of 12 ran 190 miles of stunning scenery through the night.

It was all worth it when they crossed the finish line and landed at the Saratoga Community Housing beer tent for their final reward. Many runners said knowing they got a beer for $1 at the end kept them going. They were also happy to learn their purchase helped keep low income families on Whidbey Island by supporting Saratoga Community Housing.

S.C.H. wants to thank the countless volunteers who helped make this a successful event. We would not have been able to raise over $2,300 without you!  We are also grateful to the Ragnar staff, Steve Joddaud of Anheuser Busch, Chris Field and Dwayne Ollis of Crown Distributing, Langley Police Department and Michael McMahon of Olde World Ale & Lagers who introduced us to this fundraiser.  Michael had hopes of providing some of the beer, as a local supporter, but unforeseen circumstance prohibited that, but thanks for thinking of Saratoga Community Housing and your local support.
