Coupeville had the privilege of hosting 30 exchange students from China. The activities they participated in were enjoyed by the students, with much appreciated support from their host families.

During their visit it became apparent that one student had medical-related requirements not previously anticipated.

It is with pleasure and appreciation that we recognize Whidbey General Hospital’s excellent staff for doing what was necessary to accommodate these needs.

We especially want to recognize Dr. Wendy Wang, who did the translation of the Chinese prescription, to ensure the appropriate medications were administered.

Karen McClimon, Trish Rose, Renee Yanke, Susan C. and Dr. Barrio, along with others, played a role in making sure this student received quality care in compassionate, caring way.

Deborah Keyes and the wonderful support staff are grateful for these efforts.

The Coupeville Library staff and Coupeville’s United Methodist Church administration were exceptional during the student training and various activities.

As the students left for Disneyland on Aug. 3, their visit to Coupeville will long be remembered as having a significant impact on the lives of those involved here during their visit. We are confident that when the students arrive home in China in just a few days they will remember Coupeville’s people for a long time.

We have all learned we are all so much alike in this world when we meet face-to-face. Thank you all.
