Wow, what a community we have! With less than two months living on the island, I have seen numerous organizations and individuals volunteer to help the Coupeville School District. I want to thank all of you for donating your time and effort and for sponsoring various activities. With all your wonderful help, our beautiful new high school, as well as the middle and elementary schools, will open in style.

First, I want to thank this community for supporting the bond election that made it possible to build a new school. The 2007 high school is something we can all be proud of, and it reflects the many hours of work by staff, students, and community members helping to define what we wanted in our school.

To help ensure all our schools were ready and looking good for the first day of school:

Windermere Real Estate/ Whidbey Island in Coupeville spruced up the grounds of the elementary school in June.

The Coupeville Lions, Central Whidbey Lions and Woodworkers Association helped set up the new vocational building, emptying a large storage container in the process.

Local firefighters and paramedics who helped provided the nationally recognized Axiom Leadership team-building training to our football team.

Chartwells (our food services contractor) and Coupeville’s Wells Fargo Bank assisted in sponsoring our welcome back staff breakfast.

Peoples Bank, the high school Booster Club and our Spirit Team helped support the new Wolf mascots who made their premier performances at opening assemblies Tuesday at the elementary and high schools.

Molly Hughes helped organize a clean-up day involving members of the Coupeville and Central Whidbey Lions Clubs, the Coupeville Garden Club, the High School Booster Club and Boy Scout Troop 58 from Coupeville and Troop 53 from Greenbank to weed, prune, sweep, and generally clean up the middle school grounds.

I am proud to be a Wolf and a member of the Coupeville community, where it is apparent that we care about each other, our schools, and our community.
