Editor,

It is with heartfelt gratitude on behalf of Coupeville students and teachers, that the Board of the Community Foundation for Coupeville Public Schools would like to thank the following businesses for their fundraising efforts during the 2015-16 school year: The Salty Mug, Aqua Gifts, Ciao, Whidbey Isle Yarns, Far From Normal, The Front Street Grill, Christopher’s on Whidbey, Knead & Feed Bakery and Restaurant, and Kapaw’s Iskreme, which will host the final event for the school year on June 9.

These events were aptly named Shop 4 Kids, Dine Out 4 Kids and Kones 4 Kids.

Each month during the school year one of these businesses contributed a portion of a day’s proceeds to the Foundation. During the past four years they were the core of the foundation’s fundraising efforts.

Their consistent support has enabled the Foundation to fund many grant requests and further its goal of providing an extra measure of support for teachers and students.

The Foundation has used these funds for senior scholarships, to provide support for students needing help with basic supplies, nutrition and fees, and to award grants that enhance programs in language arts, reading, science, art, and activities such as Science Olympiad, Young Authors, and Robotics teams.

Chances are great that students who are part of your family, your neighborhood and your community have been impacted by the generosity of the businesses and those who Shop and Dine out 4 Kids.

Thanks to all for being a part of the Foundation’s mission and your continued commitment to Coupeville students.

Chic Merwine, president
