Editor,

On behalf of the Blue Heron Booster Club, or BHBC, I want to thank the Oak Harbor community for its continued support of our mission to elevate youth and masters competitive swimming for North Whidbey.

Through your support of our fundraisers, we were able to bring All-American Swim Camp coaching to our remote location to benefit the North Whidbey Aquatics Club and regional swimmers.

We also were able to purchase new lane lines and backstroke flags that have updated the look and functionality of the John Vanderzicht Memorial Pool. These enhancements benefit all the swimmers who use the pool, from the children in swim lessons, to our Masters swimmers and active duty military men and women, lap swimmers and our youth on the Oak Harbor High School swim teams.

Our youth swimmers, members of BHBC, raised the money for these purchases through bake sales and selling discount cards sponsored by many local businesses on Whidbey Island.

We know that this partnership with our community will enable BHBC and the Aquatic Club team to continue to flourish. Please come by the pool and see the positive changes underway.
