Sign petition supporting base, comment on Navy draft EIS

Editor,

I’m deeply concerned that those whom support Naval Air Station Whidbey Island are not being heard in the EA-18G Airfield Ops process with all the progressive agitation.

The Navy does track comments of “general support,” and right now, with Sen. John McCain speaking of another Base Realignment and Closure Commission, or BRAC, now’s the time to give that support to NAS Whidbey.

So here’s how supporters of NAS Whidbey can be heard — first, sign the Oak Harbor Navy League petition at www.ipetitions.com/petition/isupportnaswi; second, lend a comment of support to whidbeyeis.com/Comment.aspx

It’s important Navy supporters are heard in the Draft EIS process, requesting Scenario A, or 80-20 split of field carrier landing practices between OLF Coupeville and Ault Field.

That said, comments requesting coexistence and healing between OLF and Ebey’s Landing National Historic Reserve would be helpful.

Over to you — it’s your voice.
